A couple of years ago, a friend of mine and I decided that we had this great idea for a fun little beat game, which sadly never came to fruition, but in hindsight probably wouldn’t have worked out anyway.
Anyway, I completed two backgrounds for it, and they came out alright, so here they are for your viewing pleasure, or not as the case may be.
THE BEAT GAME THAT NEVER WAS
IKAROIDS: CHOOSE YOUR CO-PILOT!
More Ikaroids stuff! This one’s a collection of the main characters. Basically, when you choose your ship, the ship’s owner is going to be your co-pilot. From left to right, we have:
- Jennifer Blair: Space adventurer, mercenary and media darling
- Zhon Robora: Aggressive and imperialistic with an eye for beauty and the finer things
- Reanna: Fairy-like humanoid explorer, born in a Dyson sphere of unknown origin
- Vorn: Impatient and contemptuous, a secret elder of a gentle race, as Led Zeppelin would say.
IKAROIDS: THE BAD GUYS
Some more Ikaroids stuff, you lucky, lucky people. We’re just past the point that I can confidently start updating frequently now! Above is a selection of the enemies as they stand on the XNA version that we made a while back, but some of these are going to modified before Ikaroids makes it to the iPad. Still, this should keep you going for a bit!
KNIGHT TERRORS
A little bit more game art! This one’s from our other game that’s in the pipeline, Knight Terrors for the iPhone. This one’s going to be a while coming, since we have to get Ikaroids out of the way first, can’t get sidetracked! But it promises to be a fun project – and hopefully a little less challenging than Ikaroids has been!
The image itself was a hell of a lot of fun to work on – naturally it features several of the enemies that will be present in the game. The longest bit to do was actually the title, what with the freakin’ perspective lines… anyway, for more graphics for this little game, head on over to knight-terrors.co.uk!
AVATARDED
Time to kick off the new website! We can start with the collection of avatars for our upcoming iPad game, Ikaroids. On the XNA version these were done procedurally using XBox Live Avatars, but needless to say that facility won’t be available on the iPad! So I made these. I like ‘em better, but then I’m biased. Hello world!
